## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) A WITNESS OBSERVED THE AIRCRAFT OVERFLY THE CASHMERE AIRPORT AND ENTER LEFT TRAFFIC FOR LANDING ON RUNWAY 25. THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A TREE APPROXIMATELY 700 FEET FROM THE APPROACH END OF THE RUNWAY. THE TREE IS 50 TO 75 FEET SOUTH OF THE EXTENDED CENTERLINE OF THE RUNWAY. THE TREE IS APPROXIMATELY 55 FEET TALL AND THE AIRCRAFT'S LEFT WING IMPACTED THE TREE ABOUT TEN FEET DOWN FROM THE TOP. THE LEFT WING SHOWS IMPACT DAMAGE WITH TREE LIMBS EMBEDDED IN THE LEADING EDGE OF THE WING NEAR THE WING TIP. THE AIRCRAFT THEN COLLIDED WITH A CONSTRUCTION PICKUP TRUCK PARKED IN THE CASHMERE HIGH SCHOOL PARKING LOT. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST 10 FEET FROM THE PICKUP TRUCK AND APPROXIMATELY 75 FEET FROM THE TREE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS CONSUMED BY FIRE. THE PILOT WAS FATALLY INJURED. THE PILOT'S ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ FAMILY INDICATED THAT HE WAS FLYING HOME TO SEATTLE BUT HAD INTENTIONS TO LAND AT WENATCHEE OR CASHMERE IF THE WEATHER DID NOT ALLOW HIM TO GET TO SEATTLE. WITNESSES SAID THERE WERE CLOUDS ALONG THE CASCADE CREST BUT THE WEATHER WAS GOOD AT THE AIRPORT WITH 10 TO 15 MILES PER HOUR WINDS FROM THE WEST.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA07FA189](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA07FA189), Jun 29, 2007: Cessna 182Q (N735KP), Cashmere, WA, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain adequate clearance from trees while on final approach. A contributing factor was the sun glare.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
