## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT CIRCLED THE FIELD AND ATEMPTED A LANDING ON RUNWAY 03. THE AIRCRAFT WAS TOO HIGH AND TOO FAST AND THE PILOT EXECUTED A GO AROUND AT THE POINT OF 1/3 OF RUNWAY REMAINING. THE WIND WAS 180 DEGREES AND 10 MPH WHICH IS A TAIL WIND. ON THE SECOND ATTEMPT, HE TRIED TO FORCE THE LANDING @ 1200 FT OF RUNWAY REMAINING AND MADE A LARGE BOUNCE @ 1000 FT OF RUNWAY REMAINING AND EAST SIDE OF RUNWAY MARKERS. HE POWERED UP FOR ANOTHER GO AROUND AND ENTERED A STALL/SPIN AND COLLIDED WITH THE GROUND. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST BETWEEN PINE TREES IN A NOSE DOWN VERTICAL POSITION AND ON A HEADING OF 170 DEGREES. THE COMMERCIAL RATED PILOT RECEIVED SERIOUS INJURIES AND WAS AIRLIFTED TO RICHLAND MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IN COLUMBIA, SC. PILOT WAS INTERVIEWED AND MADE A WRITTEN STATEMENT THAT HE ATTEMPED A GO-AROUND AND THE PLANE STALLED 50 FT ABOVE THE GROUND AND MADE A 180 DEGREE TURN.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA07LA190](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA07LA190), Jun 29, 2007: Champion 7KCAB (N827BM), Orangeburg, SC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain airspeed during go-around which resulted in a stall. The tailwind was a factor.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
