## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT NARRATIVE AND EYEWITNESS STATEMENTS INDICATE THAT THE AIRCRAFT ATTEMPTED TAKEOFF WITH A LEFT QUARTERING CROSSWIND, A 3/4 FUEL AND 3/4 HOPPER LOAD. THE TEMPERATURE WAS ESTIMATED AT 75 DEGREES F. THE AIRCRAFT GAINED TAKEOFF SPEED WITH NORMAL POWER BEING DEVELOPED. UPON ENTERING GROUND EFFECT, THE RUNWAY ENDED AND AS THE AIRCRAFT SANK, THE PILOT TURNED AWAY FROM THE CROSSWIND AND SUNK INTO A CORN FIELD. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST APPROXIMATELY 450 FEET FROM THE END OF THE RUNWAY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DEN07CA112](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DEN07CA112), Jul 4, 2007: Grumman-Schweizer G-164B (N8459K), Joes, CO, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's improper takeoff planning and subsequent failure to maintain aircraft control during the takeoff. Contributing factors were the high density altitude and tailwind.

## Other reports on N8459K (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
