## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AFTER RETURNING FROM A LOCAL FLIGHT IN THE VICINITY OF TRUCKEE, CA THE PILOT ENTERED THE PATTERN AT 1000 FT. AGL. ON FINAL, A SIDE SLIP WAS USED TO COMPENSATE FOR THE CROSSWIND CONDITIONS. THE PILOT STATED THAT THE AIRCRAFT WAS FLARED NORMALLY (APPROXIMATELY 2 FEET OVER THE RUNWAY) AND TOUCHED DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RUNWAY WITH THE AIRFRAME ALIGNED WITH THE RUNWAY. UPON TOUCHDOWN, THE LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED AND THE GLIDER SLID IN A STRAIGHT LINE ON THE RUNWAY FOR 250 FEET BEFORE STOPPING. TWO WITNESSES OBSERVED THE LANDING. ONE WITNESS SAID THE LANDING WAS NORMAL AND UPON LANDING, THE GEAR COLLAPSED. THE OTHER SAID THAT ALL WAS NORMAL UNTIL APPROX. 3' AGL, AT WHICH POINT THE GLIDER DROPPED TO THE RUNWAY AND THE GEAR COLLAPSED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX07CA223](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX07CA223), Jul 7, 2007: Burkhart Grob Flugzeugbau G102 Astir CS (N132SS), Truckee, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate compensation for a wind gust during landing flare, which resulted in a hard landing.

## Other reports on N132SS (2)

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
