(-23) PILOT DEPARTED PRIVATE STRIP SOUTHBOUND AND TURNED TO THE WEST. PILOT STATED THAT HE HAD INITIALLY GAINED APPROXIMATELY 300' ALTITUDE AND THEN DESCENDED. AT APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES FROM PRIVATE STRIP AT AN ALTITUDE OF APPROXIMATELY 18' THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED AN ELECTRICAL CABLE ADJACENT TO HWY 380 WHICH RESULTED IN KNOCKING OUT THE COCKPIT WINDOW AND DAMAGING AIRCRAFT SKIN. THE PILOT CONTINUED FLIGHT FOR APPROXIMATELY 1.5 MILES LOOKING FOR AN AREA TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY LANDING. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED IN A ROUGH FIELD RESULTING IN THE NOSE LANDING GEAR TO BE TORN AWAY. THE AIRCRAFT SLID ON ITS NOSE FOR APPROXIMATELY 135' BEFORE THE SPINNER EMBEDDED IN THE GROUND AND FLIPPED THE AIRCRAFT ON ITS TOP.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DFW07CA163](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DFW07CA163), Jul 16, 2007: Cessna 172M (N13441), Throckmorton, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance from power transmission lines. A contributing factor was the prevailing dusk illumination.
