## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING CRUISE FLIGHT FROM PENSACOLA, FL (PNS) TO PANAMA CITY, FL (PFN), AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED AN IN-FLIGHT SEPARATION OF ONE PROPELLER BLADE. DUE TO EXCESSIVE VIBRATION OF THE ENGINE AND PROPELLER, THE PILOT SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE, SET GLIDE AND DIVERTED THE FLIGHT TO DESTIN, FL (DTS) FOR AN EMERGENCY LANDING. AIRCRAFT LANDED APPROXIMATELY 1/4 MILE SHORT OF RUNWAY 32 DESTIN FL (DTS), COLLAPSING THE LANDING GEAR AND SLIDING TO THE APPROACH END OF 32. AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE WITH NO REPORTED INJURIES AS A RESULT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA07LA123](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA07LA123), Jul 20, 2007: Larry J. Cook Lancair 320 (N52LC), Destin, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The separation of a portion of a propeller blade due to fatigue cracking which initiated in an area of corrosion that was not detected during propeller overhaul 10 flight hours before the accident.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
