## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JULY 28, 2007 AT APPROXIMATELY 0157 LOCAL TIME, N90AE, AN EMS HELICOPTER OPERATING UNDER PART 135, CRASHED DURING TAKEOFF. STATEMENTS FROM THE CREW INDICATE THAT THE HELICOPTER STARTED SPINNING SEVERAL TIMES TO THE RIGHT. THE REVOLUTIONS SLOWED MOMENTARILY, FOLLOWED BY AN INCREASE IN THE ENGINE RPM, EVENTUALLY CRASHING. THE HELICOPTER CAME TO REST ON ITS LEFT SIDE, PINNING THE PARAMEDIC. THE FLIGHT NURSE WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE HELICOPTER OUT OF THE RIGHT SIDE. THE FLIGHT NURSE ASSISTED THE PILOT IN EXITING THE HELICOPTER. FIRST RESPONDERS HAD TO EXTRACT THE PARAMEDIC AND PATIENT FROM THE HELICOPTER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DFW07LA171](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DFW07LA171), Jul 28, 2007: Bell 206L-1 (N90AE), Marks, MS, destroyed. Probable cause: The loss of control and hard landing as result of the loss of tail rotor effectiveness. A contributing factor was the prevailing dark night conditions.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
