## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LAND ON RUNWAY 27 AT VALKARIA AIRPORT, HE INITIATED A GO-AROUND BECAUSE OF LOW AIRSPEED AND INCREASING VERTICAL DESCENT RATE OF ERCOUPE N87026. PILOT FURTHER STATED THAT DURING THE ATTEMPT TO GO-AROUND, THE AIRCRAFT BANKED SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT AND CONTINUED TO DESCEND, CAUSING THE RIGHT WING TIP TO STRIKE THE GROUND, FOLLOWED BY THE ENTIRE AIRCRAFT IMPACTING THE GROUND AND COMING TO REST. PILOT REPORTED NO MECHANICAL OR FLIGHT CONTROL DEFECTS ASSOCIATED WITH N87026. INVESTIGATION OF THE ACCIDENT SITE REVEALED THAT THE RIGHT WING TIP OF N87026 STRUCK THE GROUND APPROXIMATELY 200 FEET NORTH OF RUNWAY 27 AND THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST, UPRIGHTLY, APPROXIMATELY 440 FEET NORTH OF RUNWAY 27 ON A MAGNETIC HEADING TO APPROXIMATELY 350 DEGREES. FLIGHT CONTROL CONTINUITY WAS POSITIVELY ESTABLISHED, NO PRE-IMPACT CAUSAL MECHANICAL DEFECTS WERE FOUND, AND NO ADVERSE METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS EXISTED AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA07CA128](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA07CA128), Jul 29, 2007: Engineering & Research Ercoupe 415-C (N87026), Valkaria, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain airspeed which resulted in an inadvertent stall and subsequent collision with the runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
