As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 08/01/2007 AT APPROXIMATELY 1355 CST, EXPERIMENTAL/AMATEUR-BUILT AIRCRAFT, LANCAIR IV, N7441W DEPARTED JUNCTION CITY, KS (3JC) IN VFR CONDITIONS FOLLOWING A CONDITION INSPECTION. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE NOTICED A MALFUNCTION OF THE ELECTRONIC MANIFOLD INDICATION AND #2 CYLINDER HEAD TEMPERATURE INCREASED MORE THAN THE OTHER CYLINDERS. UPON REACHING CRUISE ALTITUDE OF 10,500' THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND CONTINUED TO WINDMILL. THE PILOT LANDED THE AIRCRAFT, LANDING GEAR EXTENDED, IN A TERRACED FIELD. THE LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED AFTER A 400' ROLL OUT AND CONTINUED ON FOR ANOTHER 300 FEET. THE PILOT SUFFERED SERIOUS INJURIES AND THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. THE OIL PRESSURE LINE FROM THE TURBOCHARGER CONTROLLER TO THE WASTEGATE ACTUATOR WAS FOUND TO BE DISCONNECTED AT THE WASTEGATE ACTUATOR AND TWO SPARK PLUGS WERE FOUND TO BE IMPROPERLY INSTALLED. THE PILOT HAS THREE HOURS IN MAKE & MODEL. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^
