## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AFTER A NIGHT LANDING, THE PILOT EXITED THE RUNWAY ON A REVERSE HIGH-SPEED TAXIWAY. THE PILOT MISTOOK THIS FOR A STANDARD 90 DEGREE TAXIWAY AND DEPARTED THE PAVED SURFACE MAKING CONTACT WITH A RUNWAY/TAXIWAY SIGN WITH THE AIRCRAFT'S RIGHT WING. DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT WAS LIMITED TO SKIN DAMAGE OF THE RIGHT WING AND THERE WAS MINIMAL DAMAGE TO THE TAXIWAY SIGN.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI07CA270](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI07CA270), Aug 9, 2007: Mooney M20J (N201LE), Chesterfield, MO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot failed to maintain directional control while taxiing after landing. A factor was the runway sign.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
