## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT REPORTED HE DEPARTED AKQ AT 1000 LOCAL. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES, HE OBSERVED THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE INDICATOR NEAR RED LINE. EVENTUALLY, THE PILOT REPORTED THE INDICATOR WENT TO 0. AT THAT TIME, HE OBSERVED A DRAMATIC LOSS OF POWER. THE PILOT REPORTED HE ATTEMPTED TO LAND IN A HAY FIELD, HOWEVER, HE REPORTED THE AIRCRAFT WAS LOSING ALTITUDE RAPIDLY. THE PILOT STATED HE CHOSE A NEARBY COTTON FIELD, WHICH WAS APPROXIMATELY WAIST HIGH. THE PILOT REPORTED UPON INITIAL CONTACT WITH THE COTTON FIELD, THE AIRCRAFT TRAVELED LESS THAN 200' BEFORE FLIPPING OVER. THE PILOT REPORTED HE EXITED THE AIRCRAFT AND WALKED OUT OF THE COTTON FIELD TO A NEARBY ROAD AND FLAGGED DOWN A PASSING CAR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA07LA132](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA07LA132), Aug 11, 2007: Roger A Dalke E.B. Jenny (N59486), Wakefield, VA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot/owner's inadequate maintenance which resulted in a radiator leak, a loss of engine coolant, the engine overheating, and partial loss of engine power.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
