## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) KITFOX V, N422NL, WAS LANDING AT APEX AIRPORT IN SILVERDALE, WA. THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN THEN ADDED POWER AND ATTEMPTED TO DEPART. THE AIRCRAFT LOST SPEED, STALLED, AND MADE A FINAL HARD LANDING CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA07CA227](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA07CA227), Aug 11, 2007: Mapes Kitfox V (N422NL), Silverdale, WA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain adequate airspeed during takeoff initial climb, which resulted in an inadvertent stall and uncontrolled descent to terrain impact.

## Other reports on N422NL (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 20250108000049I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/20250108000049I), Jan 8, 2025: Mapes, Donald Joel KITFOX V (N422NL), Port Orchard, Minor damage. On water landing, aircraft immediately nosed over and came to rest upside down.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
