## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ ELEVATOR FLIGHT CONTROLS WERE HOOKED UP IMPROPERLY OR BACKWARDS (PULL BACK ON THE YOKE CAUSES THE AIRCRAFT TO GO NOSE DOWN, PUSH FORWARD CAUSES THE AIRCRAFT TO GO NOSE UP). THE FAILURE OF THE CONTROLS TO BE HOOKED UP BACKWARDS CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO NOSE OVER ON ITS BACK DURING ATTEMPTED ROTATION OF THE AIRCRAFT. PILOT FAILED TO FOLLOW PREFLIGHT CHECKLIST WHICH ALSO WOULD HAVE CAUGHT THE PROBLEM.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC07LA081](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC07LA081), Aug 16, 2007: Maule M-7-235 (N56568), Fairbanks, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The reversal of the elevator control cables by maintenance personnel, and the inadequate preflight inspection by the flight instructor and dual student.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
