## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) 08/19/2007 AIRMAN ARRIVED OVERHEAD 3N6 AT TWILIGHT WITH LOW OVERCAST. HE STATES THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART. ENGINE CONTINUED TO "SPUTTER" WHILE HE TRIED TO LAND OFF-SITE ON ADJACENT SPEEDWAY. LEFT WING CAUGHT RACEWAY'S CHAIN LINK FENCE WHICH CONTRIBUTED HEAVY DAMAGE TO A/C AS IT CAME TO REST POINTED 180 DEGREES TO APPROACH PATH. PILOT & (1) PAX EGRESSED W/O INJURY. AFTER INTERVIEW & INVESTIGATION, AIRMAN DID NOT HAVE CERTIFICATES ON HIS POSSESSION OR DEMONSTRATE HE WAS CURRENT. FSDO EXERCISED 44709 ACTION TO INSPECT PERSONAL RECORDS AND MAINTENANCE LOGBOOKS FOR CURRENCY. FUEL STARVATION IS LIKELY CAUSE AFTER FILLING "TIP TANKS" 30 MIN EARLIER WITH 30 GAL. TIP TANK SWITCHES WERE OFF AND MAIN TANKS EMPTY (VERY LITTLE FUEL SPILL AT SITE).

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC07LA197](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC07LA197), Aug 19, 2007: Cessna T210N (N6654N), Old Bridge, NJ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper fuel management, which resulted in a total loss of engine power due to fuel starvation during approach.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
