## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT DEPARTED OLSON FIELD, (LL53) FOR THE FIRST TEST FLIGHT OF HIS HOMEBUILT/EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT. HIS FIRST ATTEMPT AT A LANDING WAS ABORTED DUE TO BEING HIGH AND FAST. ON THE SECOND ATTEMPT, HE PURPOSELY SHALLOWED HIS APPROACH SO AS TO TURN FINAL AT APPROXIMATELY 400 FEET AGL AND AT A SLOWER SPEED OF 80 KTS. TURNING FINAL, HE OVERSHOT THE RUNWAY AND WHILE CORRECTING, THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO SHAKE AND SETTLED INTO THE CORN FIELD. AT NO TIME DID HE ADD POWER OR ATTEMPT A GO-AROUND. THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED THE TOP OF THE CORN AND IMPACTED THE GROUND IN A FLAT, WINGS LEVEL ATTITUDE.
