## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) INFORMATION RECEIVED FROM KERN COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT WITNESS STATEMENTS REPORT THE AIRCRAFT ENTERING THE AIRPORT TRAFFIC AREA AND APPEARED TO BEGIN AN APPROACH TO RUNWAY 35. THE AIRCRAFT THEN MADE A SHARP LEFT TURN AND CRASHED. THE WITNESS REPORTED "THE ENGINE SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS RUNNING." THE PILOT HAD NOT CONTACTED ADVISORY FOR ANY AIRPORT OR LANDING INFORMATION. PILOT AND AIRCRAFT INFORMATION/TIMES ARE ESTIMATES BASED ON AVAILABLE RECORDS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA07FA247](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA07FA247), Sep 1, 2007: Lancair LC41-550FG (N2520P), Kernville, CA, destroyed, 6 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain aircraft control while maneuvering in the traffic pattern for landing. Contributing to the accident was the pilot's failure to maintain an adequate airspeed.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
