## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 9/4/2007, N444CF TOOK OFF FROM GREAT VALLEY AIRPORT (N56) ENROUTE TO THE WILLIAMSON/SODUS AIRPORT (KSDC). THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ ATTEMPTED TO LAND ON RUNWAY 10 AT THE WILLIAMSON/SODUS AIRPORT (KSDC) AT 1300 HOURS. DURING TOUCHDOWN THE AIRCRAFT NOSE PITCHED UPWARD, WHEREUPON THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A CORRECTION AND THE AIRCRAFT CAME IN CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAY. THE NOSE PITCHED UPWARD AGAIN AND AFTER A SECOND ATTEMPT TO CORRECT THE FLIGHT PATH, THE AIRCRAFT LANDED NOSE DOWN AND STRUCK THE PROPELLER ON THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED DAMAGE ON THE RIGHT INBOARD LEADING EDGE AFTER STRIKING A RUNWAY LIGHT. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST IN A GRASS AREA JUST OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF RUNWAY 10. THE AIRCRAFT WAS REMOVED FROM THE RUNWAY AREA TO A NEARBY HANGAR. FURTHER INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT REVEALED THAT THE NOSE GEAR ASSEMBLY AND ENGINE TRUSS ASSEMBLY WERE PUSHED REARWARD INTO THE FIREWALL CAUSING FIREWALL DAMAGE. THERE WAS ALSO RIGHT INBOARD LEADING EDGE AND LOWER FORWARD FUSELAGE DAMAGE. PROPELLER BLADES WERE BOTH DAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC07CA216](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC07CA216), Sep 4, 2007: Piper PA28-161 (N444CF), William-Sodus, NY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper flare at touchdown, which resulted in a hard landing.

## Other reports on N444CF (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19870119005639I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19870119005639I), Jan 19, 1987: Piper PA28161 (N444CF), Ithaca, NY. Smoke in cabin during taxi. Found hobbs wiring shorted. Installed in line fuse in hobbs meter wiring.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
