## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON SEPTEMBER 12, 2007 THE PILOT OF A BOEING E75 STEARMAN N68462, LANDED AT THE GORDON NE AIRPORT ON RUNWAY 29. WITH A GUSTY CROSSWIND OF 10 KNOTS OFF HIS LEFT SIDE, HE LANDED AND PROCEEDED TO USE LEFT AND RIGHT RUDDER TO INCREASE HIS FORWARD VISIBILITY. HOWEVER THE AIRCRAFT SPEED WAS STILL EXCESSIVE, AND HE APPLIED POWER TO ATTEMPT A GO AROUND. THIS EXACERBATED THE LOSS OF DIRECTIONAL CONTROL AND CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO GROUND LOOP, RESULTING IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE LOWER RIGHT WING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI07CA297](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI07CA297), Sep 12, 2007: Boeing Stearman E75 (N68462), Gordon, NE, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during the crosswind landing which resulted in the inadvertent ground loop.
