## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT TOOK OFF FROM JOHNSON FIELD (8NC9) WHICH IS NEXT TO HENDERSONVILLE AIRPORT (0A7). HE STATED HIS MAGNETO AND CARB CHECKS WERE NORMAL. WHEN HE BEGAN CLIMBING OUT, HIS RPM BEGAN FLUCTUATING FROM 2600 TO 2000, BACK TO 2600. HE CLIMBED OVER THE TREES AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY. HE BEGAN TURNING IN AN ATTEMPT TO RETURN TO THE AIRPORT. AT 150-200 FT ALTITUDE, THE ENGINE CUT OUT. THE PILOT'S GLIDE PATH WAS BLOCKED BY A POWER LINE, SO HE PUSHED THE NOSE DOWN TO GO UNDER THE LINE. ON LANDING, THE AIRCRAFT WHEELS DUG INTO MUD IN THE FIELD NEXT TO HENDERSONVILLE AIRPORT (0A7) AND FLIPPED OVER. THE IMPACT TORE THE ENGINE LOOSE FROM THE FUSELAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)
