## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT WAS ATTEMPTING TO LAND AN ULTRALIGHT AIRCRAFT ON RUNWAY. WITNESSES REPORTED SEEING THE AIRCRAFT COMING IN TOO FAST. EVIDENCE SHOWS THAT THE PILOT WAS RUNNING OUT OF RUNWAY TO SAFELY STOP THE AIRCRAFT. PILOT THROTTLED UP THE AIRCRAFT IN AN ATTEMPT TO GO AROUND. AIRCRAFT COULD NOT GAIN ALTITUDE QUICK ENOUGH TO AVOID A 4 FOOT FENCE. LANDING GEAR STRUCK THE FENCE, CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO SPIN AROUND. AIRCRAFT PROP STRUCK A VEHICLE THAT WAS PARKED IN A LOT. PROP WAS DESTROYED CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO CRASH IN A NOSE DOWN POSITION. PILOT WAS SEVERELY INJURED AND IS CURRENTLY IN THE HOSPITAL UNDER HEAVY SEDATION. PASSENGER ONLY RECEIVED MINOR BUMPS AND BRUISES. WEIGHT IS A POSSIBLE FACTOR FOR PART OF ACCIDENT, BOTH INDIVIDUALS TOTAL WEIGHT WAS OVER 500 POUNDS. AT THIS TIME NO FURTHER INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE UNTIL PILOT IS ABLE TO TALK ABOUT THE ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA07LA266](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA07LA266), Sep 19, 2007: St. Claire Ragtop-01 (N3134Q), Perris, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain control of the airplane during an aborted landing. Contributing factors to the accident were the fence and the undetermined brake malfunction.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
