## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ EXPERIENCED A ROUGH RUNNING ENGINE IN CRUISE FLIGHT. WHILE PREPARING FOR AN EMERGENCY LANDING, THE ENGINE QUIT COMPLETELY. THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ THEN MADE A SUCCESSFUL OFF-AIRPORT LANDING IN A FARMER'S FIELD. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE/INJURY TO EITHER THE AIRCRAFT OR ITS OCCUPANT. MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL LATER DETERMINED THE ENGINE PROBLEM TO BE CAUSED BY WORN MAGNETOS. THEY REBUILT THE MAGS AND THE PROBLEMS ABATED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
