## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) MISHAP PILOT WAS CONDUCTING FLIGHTS FOR CHILDREN OF LOCAL ORGANIZATION. UPON APPROACHING TO LAND, HE STATED THAT HE EXPERIENCED A STRONG GUST OF WIND CAUSING HIM TO LOSE CONTROL AND CONTACT TREES. THE AIRCRAFT'S RIGHT WING STRUCK FIRST CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO CARTWHEEL OVER THE TREES AND IMPACT THE GROUND NOSE FIRST. ALL FOUR OCCUPANTS EGRESSED THE AIRCRAFT AND SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES. AN EXAMINATION OF THE FLIGHT PATH AND AIRCRAFT CONFIGURATION REVEALED THAT THE FLAPS WERE NOT FULLY EXTENDED AND THAT THE AIRCRAFT APPEARED TO BE COMING IN AND TURNED FINAL AT AN EXTREMELY LOW ALTITUDE OVER THE TREES, BASICALLY AT TREETOP LEVEL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

Probable cause: The low airspeed gust factor by the pilot, the altitude/clearance not maintained by the pilot, and the inadequate compensation for wind conditions by the pilot during the landing approach.…

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
