## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING APPROACH TO LAND THE PILOT FAILED TO SECURE THE PROPELLER IN THE MANUAL MODE. THE PILOT POWERED UP TO ABORT THE LANDING AND UPON CLIMB OUT, THE INCREASED ENGINE RPM LED THE PROPELLER TO CHANGE TO A LOW PITCH TO PREVENT OVERSPEED SITUATION. THIS IS WHAT THE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO DO WHEN NOT MANUALLY LOCKED INTO THE "MANUAL MODE." ONCE THE PILOT REALIZED THE PROPELLER WAS NOT IN THE PROPER POSITION, HE ATTEMPTED TO LOCK THE PROPELLER IN "MANUAL MODE" BUT THERE WAS NOT SUFFICIENT TIME FOR THE PILOT TO CHANGE THE PITCH BEFORE THE STALL. PILOT HAD TO PITCH UP TO CLEAR OBSTACLES, AIRSPEED DECREASED TOO SLOW, THE PROPELLER HAD NOT COME TO FULL "HIGH" PITCH AND THE AIRCRAFT STALLED. PILOT WAS ABLE TO KEEP WINGS LEVEL ALL THE WAY TO IMPACT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
