## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ RECEIVED ATIS INFORMATION THAT THE WINDS WERE 190 AT 10 KNOTS BEFORE RECEIVING INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE TROUTDALE ATC FOR A RIGHT DOWNWIND LANDING ON 07. ATC GAVE INFORMATION THAT THERE WERE CROSSWINDS ACROSS 07. ON FINAL, THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ SET THE PLANE'S FLAPS TO 30 DEGREES AND WAS AT 80 KNOTS. PER THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, THE PLANE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10 FEET IN ALTITUDE WHEN THE PLANE LOST LIFT. THE PLANE IMPACTED THE RUNWAY AT THAT POINT. THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ SAYS THAT HE APPLIED POWER IMMEDIATELY AND DID A GO-AROUND FOR AN UNEVENTFUL LANDING. UPON THE POST FLIGHT INSPECTION THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ NOTED THE PROPELLER AND ENGINE FIREWALL WERE DAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX08CA017](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX08CA017), Oct 7, 2007: Cessna 182P (N6415F), Troutdale, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate compensation for the tailwind condition and failure to maintain an adequate airspeed.

## Other reports on N6415F (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19791014027109A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19791014027109A), Oct 14, 1979: Cessna 182 (N6415F), San Andreas, CA, Substantial damage. Pilot had a rough engine at night. Flew over runway twice. Made hard landing. Possible carburetor ice.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
