## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) STUDENT PILOT WAS LANDING ON RWY 31, CFI RECOGNIZED STUDENT AS BEING HIGH AND FAST. CFI TOOK OVER THE CONTROLS AND TOLD THE STUDENT TO FOLLOW HIM THROUGH ON THE CONTROLS. CFI TOUCHED DOWN HALF WAY DOWN THE RUNWAY (1600 FT LENGTH), BOUNCED ONCE AND THEN ADDED FULL POWER TO GO-AROUND. THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED BACK DOWN ON THE RUNWAY AND VEERED TO THE LEFT, DEPARTING THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED A CORNFIELD APPROXIMATELY 100 YDS FROM WHERE IT DEPARTED THE RUNWAY. THE NOSE GEAR DEPARTED THE AIRCRAFT, THE NOSE-GEAR SHOCK STRUT DUG INTO THE GROUND FLIPPING THE AIRCRAFT ON ITS BACK, WHERE IT CAME TO REST.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC08CA010](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC08CA010), Oct 8, 2007: Cessna 150M (N6252K), Palmyra, PA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's improper recovery from a bounced landing, and the CFI's failure to take remedial action.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
