## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON OCTOBER 9, 2007, N5315M, AN AERO STAR INDUSTRIES MODEL RX-8 BALLOON, SERIAL NUMBER RX8-3355, MADE A HARD LANDING IN A GULLEY NEAR BOADMOOR AND HIGH RIDGE IN RIO RANCHO, NEW MEXICO. THERE WAS A PILOT AND 2 PASSENGERS ON BOARD. THE PILOT WAS THE ONLY ONE TO HAVE INJURIES. ACCORDING TO THE PILOT, THE BASKET IMPACTED THE GROUND AND SLID AGAINST THE SIDEWALL OF THE GULLEY WHERE IT STOPPED ABRUPTLY. THE PILOT ALSO OPINED THAT HER TWO PASSENGERS PUSHED AGAINST HER WITH ENOUGH FORCE THAT THE PRESSURE BETWEEN THE PROPANE FUEL TANK AND THE PASSENGERS BROKE AND DISPLACED HER PUBIC BONE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DEN08LA007](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DEN08LA007), Oct 9, 2007: Aerostar RX 8 (N5315M), Albuquerque, NM, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inability to maintain aircraft control due to high winds, resulting in the aircraft coming in contact with an arroyo and a wall in a residential area.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
