## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON OCTOBER 9, 2007 AT 0745 MDT, N867DK, A CAMERON Z-105 HOT AIR BALLOON, COLLIDED WITH THE ENVELOPE OF ANOTHER BALLOON DURING A MASS ASCENSION AT THE ALBUQUERQUE INTERNATIONAL BALLOON FIESTA. N867DK HAD BEEN CLEARED FOR TAKEOFF BY FIESTA LAUNCH OFFICIALS AND ENCOUNTERED A WIND SHIFT, WHICH BLEW IT INTO THE OTHER BALLOON. THE GONDOLA OF N867DK STRUCK THE ENVELOPE OF THE OTHER BALLOON AND RIPPED A HOLE IN IT CAUSING IT TO DEFLATE. THE BALLOON THAT WAS STRUCK WAS INFLATED BUT NOT READY FOR FLIGHT. N867DK CONTINUED ITS FLIGHT WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE FLIGHT WAS OPERATING UNDER 14 CFR PART 91. THE PILOT AND TWO PASSENGERS WERE NOT INJURED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES IN THE OTHER BALLOON.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
