## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT LANDED AT IXD, RUNWAY 18, TOUCHING DOWN ON OR NEAR THE TOUCHDOWN ZONE MARKER. THE PILOT DEPLOYED THRUST REVERSERS. DURING THE ROLLOUT, THE WIND SHIFTED FROM THE SOUTHEAST TO THE WEST WITH HEAVY RAIN BEGINNING MOMENTS AFTER TOUCHDOWN, REDUCING VISIBILITY. THE PILOT BEGAN TO LOSE DIRECTIONAL CONTROL AND CLOSED THE THRUST REVERSERS IN AN ATTEMPT TO REGAIN CONTROL. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TO DRIFT LEFT, EXITING THE EAST SIDE OF RUNWAY. THE NOSE GEAR STRUCK A CONCRETE PAD, AND SHEARED OFF.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DEN08LA011](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DEN08LA011), Oct 15, 2007: North American NA-265-65 (N65BT), New Century, KS, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control. Contributing factors in this accident were the sudden wind shift, from calm to a gusty crosswind, the runway light, and the concrete pad.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
