## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) MOMENTS AFTER LIFT OFF, AND AT ABOUT FIVE FEET AGL, THE PARACHUTE ENTERED AN UNSEEN 'DUST DEVIL', THE PARACHUTE MOVED DRAMATICALLY TO THE SIDE, CAUSING THE CARRIAGE TO IMPACT THE GROUND NOSE DOWN. THE CARRIAGE CARTWHEELED SEVERAL TIMES, THE PARACHUTE COLLAPSED, AND THE CARRIAGE CAME TO REST UPSIDE DOWN.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX08CA013](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX08CA013), Oct 16, 2007: Poser DM 582 Buckeye (N785CP), Hurricane, UT, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate compensation for the existing wind conditions and subsequent failure to maintain aircraft control.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
