## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) FOLLOWING THE ILS APPROACH TO RUNWAY 30 AT GOODLAND MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (GLD) IN INSTRUMENT METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS, (200 FEET OVERCAST AND VISIBILITY 1 1/4 STATUTE MILES) THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK THE RUNWAY RIGHT WING LOW, CAUSING THE RIGHT WING TIP TANK TO IMPACT THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT VEERED OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY, BECAME AIRBORNE AGAIN AND BANKED TO THE LEFT CAUSING THE LEFT WING TIP TANK TO IMPACT THE TERRAIN. THE AIRCRAFT CROSSED THE RUNWAY AND EVENTUALLY CAME TO REST TO THE LEFT OF THE RUNWAY, BETWEEN THE RUNWAY AND THE PARALLEL TAXIWAY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED WITH THE LEFT WING BENT DOWNWARD 90 DEGREES, APPROXIMATELY 3 FEET INBOARD OF THE TIP TANK. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. BOTH PILOTS REPORTED THAT THE SECOND IN COMMAND (LEFT SEAT) WAS MANIPULATING THE FLIGHT CONTROLS DURING THE ILS APPROACH AND THE PILOT IN COMMAND (RIGHT SEAT) TOOK CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT AT 250 FEET ABOVE GROUND LEVEL AND WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE AIRCRAFT DUE TO A POSSIBLE FLIGHT CONTROL MALFUNCTION. PILOT STATEMENTS WERE CONFLICTING REGARDING WHY AND HOW THE FLIGHT CONTROLS WERE TRANSFERRED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DEN08LA013](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DEN08LA013), Oct 17, 2007: Learjet 35A (N31MC), Goodland, KS, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain aircraft control during the landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
