## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 10/21/07 THIS INSPECTOR WAS INFORMED BY THE NEW ENGLAND REGION OPERATIONS CENTER THAT A CESSNA 152 HAD EXECUTED A CLOSE LEFT BASE TO FINAL CLIPPING TREES WITH BOTH WINGS IN GREENVILLE, MAINE AT 2030 EDT ON 10/20/07. PILOT REPORTED DAMAGES AS SUBSTANTIAL AND NO INJURIES. NO ATC INVOLVEMENT. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION THIS AIRCRAFT HAS BEEN DETERMINED TO HAVE SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE AS BOTH WINGS HAVE BEEN DAMAGED, NOSE GEAR STRUT DAMAGED, LOWER ENGINE MOUNT DAMAGED, AND THE RIGHT HAND HORIZONTAL STABILIZER DAMAGED. WITNESS STATEMENT FROM PILOT AS FOLLOWS: "ON SATURDAY EVENING 8:00 PM I TOOK OFF FROM GREENVILLE MUNI AIRPORT TO DO SOME PATTERN WORK AT NIGHT. WHILE ON LEFT DOWN WIND FOR RNWY 14 I NOTICED A SMALL RAIN SHOWER OVER THE AIRPORT. I HURRIED MY APPROACH AND IN DOING SO, CLIPPED SOME TREE TIPS, SUSTAINING DAMAGE TO BOTH WINGS. I THEN LANDED HARD ON THE RUNOFF AND DAMAGED THE NOSE GEAR."

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC08CA017](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC08CA017), Oct 20, 2007: Cessna 152 (N757DP), Greenville, ME, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain adequate clearance from trees during the approach.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
