## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT WAS DOING A ROUTINE LEFT PATTERN TO A TOUCH AND GO LANDING ON RUNWAY 1 (LENGTH 6000') AT EDE. ABEAM NUMBERS FOR RUNWAY 1, POWER WAS REDUCED TO IDLE, A LEFT TURN WAS ESTABLISHED TO BASE WITH A STEEP FINAL AND FLAPS WERE EXTENDED TO 50%. THIS CAUSED AIRSPEED TO DECREASE AND RATE OF DESCENT TO INCREASE BUT PILOT DID NOT ADJUST POWER. JUST PRIOR TO ROLLING THROUGH BASE, PILOT "SPOTTED RUNWAY", NOTED SPEED AT 80 MPH (WITHIN PARAMETERS) AND NEVER CROSSCHECKED ANY INSTRUMENTS. PILOT DID NOT ADJUST POWER BECAUSE HE FELT HE WAS "IN THE GROOVE." PASSING THE 90 DEG. POINT, FLAPS WERE EXTENDED TO 100%, LEFT WING DROPPED APPROXIMATELY 60 DEGREES DOWN, FULL RIGHT AILERON WAS APPLIED WITHOUT RESPONSE. THIS CAUSED A HIGH SINK RATE DUE TO LOSS OF LIFT. AT THIS POINT, PILOT APPLIED FULL POWER, WAS ABLE TO RAISE LEFT WING, ESTABLISHED WINGS LEVEL IN NORMAL LANDING ATTITUDE BUT WAS UNABLE TO ARREST SINK RATE CAUSING AIRCRAFT TO IMPACT RUNWAY (G UNIT INSTALLED IN AIRCRAFT RECORDED OVER 12 G). THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED TWICE MORE BEFORE FINALLY SETTLING ON THE RUNWAY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA08CA008](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA08CA008), Oct 21, 2007: Globe GC-1B (N80997), Edenton, NC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain airspeed while on final approach resulting in an inadvertent stall.

## Other reports on N80997 (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19860515041329I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19860515041329I), May 15, 1986: Univac GC1B (N80997), Hayward, CA. ATC issued and acknowledged 28R landing instructions. Aircraft landed on 28L.some unacknowledged ATC transmissions.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
