## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT DEPARTED GROVE CITY AIRPORT (29D) ENROUTE TO BEAVER COUNTY AIRPORT (BVI), LOST ENGINE POWER AND LANDED SUCCESSFULLY IN A FARMER'S FIELD. FURTHER ON SITE INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE PILOT DID NOT VISUALLY INSPECT THE FUEL TANKS PRIOR TO TAKEOFF. A VISUAL INSPECTION OF THE FUEL TANKS AT THE LANDING SITE EXPOSED UNUSABLE FUEL REMAINING IN EACH TANK. (-23 AMENDMENT) 12-20-2007: WITNESSED REMOVAL OF CARBURETOR FROM N2886F. FOUND BIRD NEST MATERIAL OBSTRUCTING 50% OF CARBURETOR VENTURI. THIS EXPLAINS THE POWER LOSS AND SUPPORTS THE COMMENT IN BLOCK 43 OF THE ORIGINAL INCIDENT REPORT; 9) "INADEQUATE PREFLIGHT."

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
