## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIR MIDWEST FLIGHT 4680 WAS ENROUTE FROM ADAMS FIELD (LIT) LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS TO KANSAS CITY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (MCI), KANSAS CITY, MO AT CRUISING ALTITUDE OF 16,000 FEET. KANSAS CITY AIR ROUTE TRAFFIC CONTROL CENTER (ARTCC) CLEARED THE AIRCRAFT TO DESCEND TO 10,000 FEET. DURING DESCENT AT APPROXIMATELY 14,000 FEET, 55 NM SOUTH OF THE KANSAS CITY VORTAC (MCI VOR), THE CREW NOTICED SMOKE FILLING THE LOWER PART OF THE COCKPIT AND CABIN AND THE NUMBER 2, RIGHT ENGINE, LOSING OIL PRESSURE. THE CREW DECLARED AN EMERGENCY WITH KANSAS CITY ARTCC AND PROCEEDED TO SHUT DOWN AND SECURE THE NUMBER 2 ENGINE. KANSAS CITY ARTCC HANDED THE CREW OFF TO KANSAS CITY APPROACH CONTROL, WHO PROVIDED RADAR VECTORS FOR THE AIRCRAFT TO RUNWAY 36 AT THE LEE'S SUMMIT MEMORIAL AIRPORT (LXT), LEE'S SUMMIT, MO. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED AT LXT WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. INCIDENT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ IS CLOSED WITH THIS REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
