## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 11/01/07 AT APPROXIMATELY 17:00 EST A PRIVATE PILOT OPERATING A M20E, N5912Q WAS ENROUTE FROM KPPO TO M91. THE WEATHER WAS VFR AND NO FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED. JUST PAST KLAF THE ENGINE BEGAN TO RUN ROUGH, THE PILOT THEN HEARD A LOUD BANG AND THEN THE ENGINE QUIT. DISTANCE FROM KLAF WAS NOW FIVE MILES TO THE SOUTH AT 6500 FEET MSL. THE PILOT TURNED THE AIRCRAFT BACK TOWARD KLAF AND DECLARED AN EMERGENCY WITH KLAF TOWER. THE TOWER CLEARED THE AIRCRAFT FOR LANDING ON ANY RUNWAY. THE DESCENT AND APPROACH WAS CONTINUED TO RUNWAY 5. THE AIRCRAFT WAS CONFIGURED WITH GEAR AND FLAPS UP. ON SHORT FINAL THE TOWER TRANSMITTED A RADIO CALL TO REMEMBER TO LOWER THE GEAR, WHICH THE PILOT DID AT THAT TIME. THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN JUST BELOW A HILLTOP INSIDE THE AIRPORT PERIMETER FENCE AND APPROXIMATELY 400 TO 500 FEET FROM THE THRESHOLD OF RUNWAY FIVE. AS THE AIRCRAFT ROLLED TO THE TOP OF THE HILL THE RIGHT MAIN AND NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO A STOP ABOUT 200 FEET FROM THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT WHO WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT OF THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED NO INJURIES.
