## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON NOVEMBER 7, 2007, AT APPROXIMATELY 20:45 LOCAL TIME, N559PB WAS DEPARTING FROM THE ASPEN, COLORADO AIRPORT FOLLOWING THE LINDZ4 DEPARTURE PROCEDURE WHEN THE PILOT WAS TEMPORARILY BLINDED BY AN EXTREMELY BRIGHT LASER BEAM IN THE COCKPIT OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE LASER LIGHT APPEARED TO BE COMING FROM THE SNOWMASS VILLAGE AREA. ATC WAS NOTIFIED AND THE LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO INVESTIGATE THE INCIDENT. ATC ALSO STATED THAT ANOTHER AIRCRAFT REPORTED A LASER BEAM TRACKING THEIR AIRCRAFT AT 30,000 FEET, AT APPROXIMATELY THE SAME TIME. WHEN THE POLICE ARRIVED AT THE HORSE RANCH AREA LOCATED WITHIN THE SNOWMASS VILLAGE, A BRIGHT GREEN LASER BEAM WAS TRANSMITTED AT THE POLICE CAR BLINDING THE POLICE OFFICER. THE POLICE OFFICER WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL IN APPREHENDING THE INDIVIDUAL AT THAT TIME. THE POLICE DEPARTMENT IS GOING TO PUT A NOTICE IN THE LOCAL NEWSPAPER AND TRY TO GET ANY INFORMATION ON THIS PERSON. THEY WILL NOTIFY THE FAA IF THEY OBTAIN ANY FURTHER INFORMATION, NO FURTHER ACTION TAKEN AT THIS TIME.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
