AT APPROXIMATELY 1700 FEET ALTITUDE HE EXPERIENCED ENGINE PROBLEMS, LOSING OIL PRESSURE AND ENGINE RPM. HE DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND DETERMINED HIS BEST AREA WAS TO LAND ON PORTER ROAD (NORTH BOUND) JUST WEST OF MASON ROAD AND NORTH OF I-10. HE LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. IT APPEARED #2 CYLINDER PISTON ROD CAP HAD CAME OFF AND THE ROD WENT THRU THE ENGINE CASE. PILOT WAS ALONE SUSTAINING NO INJURIES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
