## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING CRUISE FLIGHT FROM RHP TO AKH, PILOT MISSED AKH AIRPORT AND BEGAN TO ZIGZAG WHEN THE ENGINE QUIT RUNNING. THE ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP WAS TURNED ON AND THE ENGINE DID NOT RETURN WITH POWER. THE OIL PRESSURE WAS INDICATING AND THE PROPELLER WAS WINDMILLING. PILOT SELECTED A PINE THICKET AND MADE EMERGENCY LANDING. AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE WITHOUT INJURY TO PILOT. NO FUEL WAS FOUND IN LEFT TANK AND ONLY UNUSABLE FUEL FOUND IN RIGHT TANK. A SMALL TRACE OF FUEL FOUND IN LOWEST FUEL SUMP DRAIN. PILOT DID NOT HAVE A VALID MEDICAL CERTIFICATE, A CURRENT BFR, AIRCRAFT OPERATING LIMITATIONS, OR A VALID REGISTRATION ON BOARD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA08CA016](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA08CA016), Nov 9, 2007: Scottish Bulldog 120 (N9151R), Cramerton, NC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper fuel consumption calculations resulting in a total loss of engine power due to fuel exhaustion and a forced landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
