## Narrative

(-23) THE PILOT AND HIS PASSENGER WERE ENROUTE FROM (GJT) GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO TO (OMA) OMAHA, NEBRASKA, WHEN HE EXPERIENCED TOTAL LOSS OF ELECTRICAL POWER AS HE WAS CLEARED TO 9000 FEET. AS THE PILOT WAS DESCENDING TO HIS ASSIGNED ALTITUDE, A BRIGHT BLUE FLASH EMITTED ACROSS THE INSTRUMENT PANEL TEMPORARILY BLINDING HIM. WHILE MAINTAINING CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO CYCLE THE AVIONICS POWER SWITCH AND THE MASTER SWITCH TO REGAIN ELECTRICAL POWER. THE PILOT CHECKED ALL OF THE CIRCUIT BREAKERS AND FOUND THEM TO BE NORMAL. THE ENGINE WAS NOT INTERRUPTED AND CONTINUED TO PRODUCE POWER. AFTER HIS FAILED ATTEMPTS TO REESTABLISH ELECTRICAL POWER, HE SPOTTED AN AIRPORT BEACON AND PROCEEDED TO LAND AT MILLARD AIRPORT (MLE), MILLLARD, NEBRASKA. THE AIRPORT RUNWAY LIGHTS WERE NOT ON AS HE CIRCLED TO LAND. A PERSON AT THE AIRPORT OBSERVED THE AIRCRAFT CIRCLING AND SWITCHED THE RUNWAY LIGHTS ON. THE PILOT LANDED THE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE PILOT AND HIS LONE PASSENGER WERE NOT INJURED AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS NOT DAMAGED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
