## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) SOUTHWEST AIRLINES FLIGHT 570, A BOEING B737-5H4 (N528SW) ENROUTE FROM DETROIT (DTW) TO NASHVILLE (BNA) AT 36,000 MSL EXPERIENCED SPIDER WEB CRACKING OF THE CAPTAIN'S (L-1) WINDSHIELD OUTER PANE WITH AN ASSOCIATE ARCING FROM THE WINDOW HEAT ELEMENTS. THE AIRCRAFT EXECUTED AN EMERGENCY DESCENT AND LOST SEPARATION WITH N906TF, A CL60. CLOSEST PROXIMITY WAS 100 FEET VERTICAL AND 2.38 MILES HORIZONTAL. THE AIRCRAFT DIVERTED INTO INDIANAPOLIS AIRPORT (IND) WHERE IT LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT AT 2321 UTC. MAINTENANCE REMOVED AND REPLACED THE CAPTAIN'S WINDSHIELD AND WINDOW HEAT CONTROLLER AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
