As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON NOVEMBER 16, 2007, THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, PILOT AND SOLE OCCUPANT OF A LONGEZ AMATEUR-BUILT WING AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE ELTON HENSELY MEMORIAL AIRPORT (FTT) IN FULTON, MISSOURI (ON A VFR FLIGHT PLAN) DESTINED TO COLONEL JAMES JABARA AIRPORT (AAO) IN WICHITA, KS. APPROXIMATELY AN HOUR INTO THE FLIGHT AT CRUISE ALTITUDE, THE AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED ENGINE FAILURE. THE PILOT SELECTED THE RIGHT INBOARD WING TANK AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE ENGINE. UNABLE TO GET THE ENGINE RESTARTED, THE PILOT NOTIFIED ATC THAT HE WOULD BE PERFORMING AN EMERGENCY LANDING. THE PILOT ELECTED TO LEAVE THE NOSE LANDING GEAR IN THE RETRACTED POSITION AND LANDED IN AN OPEN FIELD APPROXIMATELY 4.4 MILES NORTH OF LEROY, KS. ON LANDING, THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE LEFT WING AND BOTH VERTICAL STABILIZERS. THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED AND WAS ABLE TO EGRESS HIMSELF FROM THE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. HE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL FOR OBSERVATION AND LATER RELEASED.
