## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING CRUISE AT 10,500 FT, THE ENGINE STARTED SURGING WITH RPM DROPS OF 1000-1500 FROM SETTING. PILOT CHECKED PRIMER, CARB HEAT, MAGNETOS, MIXTURE, AND FUEL SELECTOR WITH NO RELIEF. PILOT DECLARED EMERGENCY. AT 6,000 FEET THE ENGINE RAN SMOOTHLY THROUGH LANDING. THE AIRCRAFT WAS INSPECTED AND TEST FLOWN WITH NO DEFECTS NOTED. PRIOR TO TAKEOFF AWOS INFO GAVE A 20 DEGREE SPLIT. IT WAS A VERY CLEAR, LOW HUMIDITY DAY. THE OAT WAS 28 DEGREES. CARBURETOR ICE IS POSSIBLE CAUSE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
