## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, THE PILOT-IN-COMMAND AND FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR, WAS GIVING INSTRUCTION TO ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS PRACTICING POWER-OFF 180 DEGREE ACCURACY LANDINGS. ON THIS OCCASION THE LANDING GEAR AUTO EXTEND OVERRIDE WAS NOT USED. IN THE PILOT'S ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ STATEMENT IT APPEARS THAT THEY NORMALLY PRACTICED THIS MANEUVER USING THE OVERRIDE FEATURE. THIS ACTION MAY HAVE CAUSED SOME CONFUSION BETWEEN THE INSTRUCTOR AND THE STUDENT. IN HIS STATEMENT THE INSTRUCTOR STATED THE LANDING GEAR "DID" AUTO EXTEND WHEN THE POWER WAS REDUCED TO IDLE. HE ALSO STATES THREE GREEN LIGHTS WERE OBSERVED ON THE TURN FROM BASE TO FINAL, AS HE PUT THE LANDING GEAR HANDLE IN THE DOWN POSITION WITH NO SOUND OF THE GEAR WARNING HORN. THE STUDENT STATES, DURING HIS TURN FROM BASE TO FINAL HE OBSERVED THREE GREEN LIGHTS, NO RED LIGHTS AND HE DID NOT HEAR THE GEAR WARNING HORN. HE ALSO STATES HE DID NOT VERIFY THE LANDING GEAR LEVER POSITION. THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED THE RUNWAY WITH THE LANDING GEAR IN THE UP POSITION AND WITH THE LANDING GEAR LEVER ALSO IN THE UP POSITION.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
