## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE STUDENT PILOT WAS ON HER SECOND SOLO FLIGHT PRACTICING LANDINGS. ON THE FOURTH APPROACH, THE ATCT TOLD THE PILOT TO PERFORM A FULL STOP LANDING. THE PILOT STATED THAT SHE WAS MAKING THE APPROACH AT APPROXIMATELY 75 KNOTS AND LANDED AT THIS SPEED. THE PILOT STATED THAT SHE WAS PRACTICING A SHORT FIELD LANDING. SHE STATED THAT SHE OVERSHOT THE FIRST TAXIWAY (C1) AND WAS STILL GOING TOO FAST WHEN SHE ATTEMPTED TO TURN ONTO THE NEXT TAXIWAY (C2). THE PILOT VEERED OFF OF THE TAXIWAY AND CAME TO A STOP IN A DITCH WHICH IS APPROXIMATELY EIGHT FEET DEEP. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF SKID MARKS ON THE PAVEMENT OR IN THE DIRT/GRASS AREA PRIOR TO THE DITCH. THE FLAPS WERE IN THE UP POSITION. THE PILOT STATED THAT SHE HAD HER HAND ON THE THROTTLE WHICH WAS OFF UNTIL SHE STRUCK THE DITCH WHICH CAUSED THE THROTTLE TO BE PUSHED TO THE FULL ON POSITION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA08CA047](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA08CA047), Dec 14, 2007: Cessna 172S (N567SP), El Cajon, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The excessive speed while turning off of the runway which resulted in a loss of aircraft control. The ditch was a factor.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
