## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) STUDENT PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ EXECUTED AN OFF-AIRPORT LANDING APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES SOUTHWEST OF HICKS AIRPORT AFTER LOSING ENGINE POWER. THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ STATED THAT THE ENGINE SPUTTERED AND FAILED WHEN HE WAS DESCENDING THROUGH 2,300 FEET. THE AIRCRAFT ROLLED A SHORT DISTANCE AFTER TOUCHDOWN, STRUCK A SMALL EMBANKMENT, AND FLIPPED TO AN INVERTED POSITION BEFORE COMING TO A REST. ATC INFORMATION INDICATES THAT THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ BECAME LOST DURING THE COURSE OF A TRAINING FLIGHT AND WAS RECEIVING RADAR VECTORS TO HICKS AIRPORT. A REVIEW OF THE AIRCRAFT DISPATCH RECORDS INDICATES THAT HE HAD FLOWN FOR 3.2 HOURS AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT.
