## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON DECEMBER 22, 2007 AT APPROXIMATELY 1755 LOCAL TIME, N8305V, A CHAMPION MODEL 7GCAA (CITABRIA) AIRPLANE, SERIAL NUMBER 98, MADE A HARD LANDING ON RUNWAY 06 AT THE GALLUP MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (GUP) AT GALLUP, NM. AS EXPLAINED BY THE PILOT AND AS EVIDENCED BY RUNWAY AND GROUND MARKS, THE AIRCRAFT VEERED TO THE RIGHT IMMEDIATELY AFTER TOUCHDOWN, HIT SOME ICE ON THE 1000 FOOT MARKER, DEPARTED THE RUNWAY, TRAVELED ACROSS THE GROUND ON ALL THREE GEAR. THE PILOT ADDED FULL POWER TO TRY TO GET BACK TO THE RUNWAY WITHOUT SLOWING DOWN AND COULD NOT STEER THE AIRCRAFT TOWARD THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT ALSO STATED THAT WHEN HE NOTICED THAT HE COULD NOT CORRECT THE DIRECTION AND SAW A PILE OF DIRT AHEAD, HE REDUCED THE POWER TO IDLE AND THEN THE AIRCRAFT HIT A DRAINAGE DITCH FULL OF WATER AND FLIPPED OVER. THERE WERE TWO PEOPLE ABOARD, A PILOT AND A PASSENGER, AND NEITHER SUSTAINED ANY INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
