## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JANUARY 2, 2008 AT 12 PM LOCAL TIME, AIRCRAFT N724BB A BEECHCRAFT MODEL A-36 BONANZA EXPERIENCED A HARD LANDING WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LAND ON RUNWAY 34 AT MALCOLM-MCKINNON AIRPORT (SSI), GEORGIA. NOAA WEATHER REPORTED WEATHER CONDITIONS AS CLEAR WITH WINDS OF 13 MPH, GUSTS OF 24-28 MPH AT 300-310 DEGREES. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE EXPERIENCED A STRONG GUST OF WIND PRIOR TO TOUCHDOWN CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO BOUNCE SEVERAL TIMES RESULTING IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT AND THE TWO PASSENGERS WERE NOT INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC08CA074](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC08CA074), Jan 2, 2008: Beech A36 (N724BB), Brunswick, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate compensation for wind conditions. A factor in the accident was the wind gust.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
