## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) SHORTLY AFTER TOUCHDOWN PILOT OBSERVED DEER RUNNING OUT OF THE WOODS DIRECTLY TOWARD AIRCRAFT. AIRCRAFT SPEED WAS TOO SLOW TO TAKE OFF AND TOO FAST TO COMPLETELY STOP BEFORE DEER HIT AIRCRAFT. PILOT CLEARED RUNWAY, NOTICED DEER STILL IN RUNWAY, CALLED AND INSTRUCTED DEER ON RUNWAY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC08CA084](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC08CA084), Jan 5, 2008: Piper PA-32R-300 (N9896), Brooksville, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: A deer darting into the path of the airplane during the landing roll.

Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
