## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JANUARY 7, 2008 AT 0545 LOCAL TIME, AIRCRAFT N5401Y DEPARTED FROM LYNCHBURG VIRGINIA FOR THE DESTINATION OF DUBLIN GEORGIA. UPON ARRIVAL AT THE DUBLIN AIRPORT (DBN) THE PILOT DETERMINED THAT THE WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE BELOW MINIMUM SAFE LANDING CRITERIA. THE PILOT DECIDED TO PROCEED SOUTHWEST TO EASTMAN GEORGIA, WHERE HE ATTEMPTED TWO APPROACHES THAT WERE UNSUCCESSFUL. HE CONTACTED ATLANTA APPROACH CONTROL AND ASKED FOR DIRECTIONS TO AN AIRPORT WHERE THE WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE BETTER. THE PILOT PROCEEDED TOWARDS COLUMBUS METROPOLITAN AIRPORT (CSG). THE ENGINE STOPPED OPERATING AT 3000 FEET AND APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES FROM THE COLUMBUS AIRPORT. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED ON WARM SPRINGS ROAD APPROXIMATELY 1 MILE FROM THE COLUMBUS AIRPORT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LAND ON RUNWAY 24. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND THE AIRCRAFT INCURRED ONLY MINOR DAAMGE TO THE RIGHT WING TIP. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO PROPERTY ON THE GROUND.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
