## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) CONAGRA FOOD'S LEAR 45, N863CA, DEPARTED DUPAGE AIRPORT, WEST CHICAGO, IL (KDPA) AT 0800 ON 01/09/2008 FROM RUNWAY 20R. SOON AFTER LIFTOFF THE LEAR IMPACTED A FLOCK OF STARLINGS TRAVELING FROM THE WEST TO THE EAST. THE CAPTAIN ESTIMATES THAT THREE BIRDS STRUCK THE AIRPLANE. THE AIRCRAFT'S GAUGES DID NOT INDICATE ANY MALFUNCTIONING OF EITHER OF THE TWO ENGINES. THE PILOTS MADE THE DECISION TO RETURN FOR A LANDING AT KDPA ON RUNWAY 20R. THEY DID NOT DECLARE AN EMERGENCY. THEY WERE ABLE TO LAND WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
